Anatotitan

Length: 40 feet
Height: 14 feet
Weight: 5 tons

Coloration:

Male: Brown bodies and pale underbellies, with intermediate purple blotching and a red snout.

Female: Like the male, only lacking in the purple and the red snout.

Juvenile (both sexes): Very light brown, getting darker as it approaches adulthood.

Diet: Vegetarian. Anatotitan is not picky and will grab large mouthfuls of multiple types of plant life at once with its wide beak, chewing  to a pulp with its batteries of grinding teeth.

Preferred Habitat: Open spaces broken by brush.

Social Structure: Anatotitan is rarely seen alone; almost always being found in large herds that mingle with other species of hadrosaur. There is usually no clear alpha male, as they stick together and move according to common instincts, but in some herds there are one or more animals more dominant than the rest.

Anatotitan is the largest species of hadrosaur on Isla Sorna, and the principle prey of large, big-game hunters such as Tyrannosaurus. Being a target for many predators, Anatotitan senses are very sharp, and they are constantly on the alert for danger. They also rely on living in herds for protection and are seldom seen alone.

A non-crested species, Anatotitan is naturally a peaceful animal and while considered harmless, its large size mean that even a single adult animal is capable of trampling smaller predators such as Velociraptor. When they stampede en masse, even a Tyrannosaurus would be wise to get out of their way. Anatotitan prefers to flee as its primary defense and it can run up to 35 mph on its powerful hind legs, using its thick, heavy tail for balance.

Anatotitan is mostly a quadruped; however it is capable of rising up onto its hind legs to feed from higher levels. As opposed to Parasaurolophus and Corythosaurus, which use their crests to perform unique calls, Anatotitan amplifies its own calls with inflatable sacs on its snout region.

As with all hadrosaurs, Anatotitan are very protective of their young. Their nests are colonial.
